Dear Lithuanian Friends:
It is a great honor to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania during the centennial celebration of the restoration of Lithuanian statehood. The United States has proudly called Lithuania a friend for the past century. We congratulate the Republic of Lithuania on this important milestone in the history not only of this country and of Europe, but also of democracy itself.
Americans and Lithuanians share a deep love of freedom, independence and democracy. As President Trump said last year in Warsaw, there is a fellowship that exists only among people who have fought and bled and died for freedom.
Throughout the Soviet occupation, the United States never gave up on freedom and independence as the rightful destiny of the Lithuanian people, nor on the belief in a secure and democratic Europe. And we never will.
The government of the United States and the American people look forward to another 100 years as friends and partners of Lithuania.
So congratulations, Lithuania! Everyone at the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius looks forward to celebrating with you this year and to expanding the partnership between our countries to build a future defined by peace, prosperity, and freedom.
Sincerely,
Ambassador Anne Hall
