U.S. Embassy in Lithuania is accepting applications from scholars to participate in the 2024 Summer Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) Program. Application Deadline: January 15, 2024.

Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSI) are intensive fully funded post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions.  The ultimate goal of the Institutes is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad.

SUSI for Scholars will take place at various colleges, universities, and academic institutions throughout the United States over the course of six weeks beginning in or after June 2024.  Each Institute includes a four-week academic residency component and up to two weeks of an integrated study tour to another region of the United States.

Institute themes: American Politics and Political Thought, Contemporary American Literature, Journalism and Media, U.S. Culture, Identity, and Society, U.S. Economics and Sustainable Development, U.S. Foreign Policy. 

U.S. citizens, permanent residents (green card holders), Lithuanians living and working abroad are not eligible for these programs.

The Institutes will cover all participant costs, including travel allowances, health insurance, housing and meals.

There will be a virtual program contingency and participants will be required to fully participate in the entire virtual program from their location.
