Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Vilnius (April 8, 2020)

Event:

The Government of Lithuania (GoL) will extend the period of quarantine and the rules of quarantine after April 13.  They are extending the period of nationwide quarantine for another two weeks. There may be some relaxation of the quarantine after Easter weekend.

This may affect airline companies plans to recommence travel next week.  In anticipation of this development, we want to build a list of American citizen and lawful U.S. resident travelers interested in returning in April.  Please send us an email (even those whose have expressed interest previously) as soon as possible for each traveler to consec@state.gov with the following information:

  • Citizenship (for Legal Permanent Residents of the U.S.)

  • Desired destination in the United States [There are only thirteen entry destinations in the United States – Miami (MIA), Los Angeles (LAX), Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), Washington, DC Dulles (IAD), Chicago (ORD), New York City (JFK), Seattle (SEA), San Francisco (SFO), Detroit (DTW), Atlanta (ATL), Honolulu (HNL), and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)]

 NOTE: There is no charter service yet. We are only collecting a list of names in preparation. Commercial travel is still possible albeit a long route. 

This Easter weekend the Lithuanian Government has impose travel restrictions between all cities starting Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 8 p.m. Please check at their webpage listed below for more information.

 We are still receiving enrollments for Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Please pass the word to others to visit the webpage at https://step.state.gov/ .

Tallinn Airport

All commercial flights are cancelled on April 8.

Palanga Airport

All commercial flights are cancelled on April 8.

Klaipeda – Ferries

Regular travelers are not allowed to travel on the ferry Klaipeda – Karlshamn – Klaipeda.

– DFDS Klaipeda – Kiel will depart at 22:00.
– DFDS Klaipeda – Karlshamn will depart at 21:00.

  • April 25 – Ukrainian Airlines flights from Vilnius to Kyiv;
  • May 1 – Scandinavian Airlines flights from Vilnius to Stockholm and Copenhagen;
  • May 1 – Turkish Airlines flights from Vilnius to Istanbul;
  • May 1 – Aeroflot flights from Vilnius to Moscow;
  • May 1 – Wizzair flights from Vilnius to multiple destinations;
  • May 4 – Austrian Airlines flights from Vilnius to Vienna;

  • May 1 – Scandinavian Airlines flights from Palanga to Copenhagen;
  • May 9 (possibly June)- Ryanair flights from Palanga to London Stansted and Dublin;
  • May 18 – Air Baltic flights from Palanga to Riga;
  • June 1 – Norwegian flights from Palanga to Oslo;
  • July 1 – LOT flights from Palanga to Warsaw.

Klaipeda – Ferries

Regular travelers are not allowed to travel on the ferry Klaipeda – Karlshamn – Klaipeda.

  • DFDS ferries are scheduled to operate the following routes on April 9:
    – DFDS ferry Klaipeda – Kiel, departing Klaipeda at 22:00.
    – DFDS ferry Klaipeda –Karlshamn, departing Klaipeda at 21:00.
