The award celebrates innovations that solve problems in a wide array of areas, including science, technology, and business.

“This year the United States and Lithuania celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations and the rich, multifaceted relationship we have developed over that time. Innovation underpins our two countries’ economic ties and the Innovation Award is one way we can showcase it. But the awards do more than highlight what our innovative sectors have already achieved – they lead us to future possibilities. I hope they inspire future ideation and U.S.-Lithuania collaboration, ultimately deepening our bilateral relationship for the next 100 years,” says U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania Robert S. Gilchrist.
According to Paulius Petrauskas, Head of Innovation Department in Innovation agency Lithuania, innovations, aimed at solving global problems drive the Lithuanian economy forward, increasing its resilience to challenges and fluctuations. “By connecting people from different cultures, international collaboration turns novel ideas into successful projects”, says P. Petrauskas.
This award is dedicated to recognize organizations and individuals active in innovation, whether scientific research or business solutions. “We know that there are plenty of great examples of such projects, and we call applicants to present them to us,” adds P. Petrauskas.
At a ceremony that will take place on the 20th of October 2022, a 10,000 Eur award will be given to the applicant who has created a novel, research-based solution in collaboration with partners in the United States. In addition, the second-best initiative will be awarded a 5,000 Eur prize, and a special Impact Award will be presented to the project that furthers common U.S.-Lithuanian social or environmental objectives. The prizes are funded by Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF).
This year’s applicants will also get to consult with Giedrius Janušauskas, Innovation Agency‘s project InterInoLT expert. Mr. Janušauskas will assist them in perfecting submissions and sharing information on essential areas for executing an innovation, including finding partners abroad or becoming part of international programs.
