Dear friends in Lithuania,
I am delighted to offer you my sincere congratulations on the Centennial of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania on February 16, 1918.
While serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania 2009-2012, it was my honor to work with the Government and people of Lithuania to further strengthen the foundations of our historically strong relationship and to deepen and expand our cooperation for the future.
The strong Lithuanian-American relationship, as allies and partners, has been important to both countries through the years and remains so in these challenging times.
I would like to express my admiration for the courage and vigor Lithuanians consistently have exhibited in building an independent and democratic state. Please also accept my deepest thanks for the great kindness and friendship you extended to me and my family when we served in Lithuania.
Congratulations on this important occasion!
