School Song Competition

On 8 April 2016, U.S. Embassy representatives Derek Weeden and Nathan Stophel traveled to Tytuvenai Gymnasium to serve on a panel of judges for the ninth annual music contest. The contest showcased  the students talents and highlighted the enthusiasm with which they are learning about U.S. culture and language. Altogether, 16 groups of children participated in two age groups.  The first group consisted of children in grades four through eight and the second group consisted of adolescents in grades nine through twelve.  The single round music contest was one of a kind, displaying superb instrumental and vocal abilities.  The winners from the former age group received a standing ovation for their performance of Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics.  The winners from the latter group were able to thrill the crowds by singing a medley of songs, each more impressive than the last. The U.S. Embassy was honored to be able to participate and engage with the talented students who voluntarily displayed their vocal ability and creativity.  Derek and Nathan look forward to participating in any capacity during future events.
